There are issues such as the use of protective equipment including masks while on duty, keeping weapons used in operational work, handcuffs and other equipment disinfected and vaccinating everyone.
Omicron: What the police have to accept
The directive signed by AIG Mohammad Ullah of Bangladesh Police Headquarters said-
>> Every police member must wear mask, gloves, head cover, face shield while performing his duties.
>> Hand sanitizer should be used from time to time while performing duties and hands should be cleaned with soap or hand wash after performing regular duties.
>> If the symptoms of codeid (omicron) appear in the isolation center should be arranged for treatment.
>> Every police member should get coded vaccine in quick time. In this case, the unit in-charge will ensure that the police and non-police members under him are vaccinated.
>> All police units have to follow the ‘No Mask No Service’ and ‘No Mask No Entry’ instructions and have masks where applicable.
>> In all cases, physical distance, sneezing-coughing etiquette and hygiene rules must be followed.
>> Service recipients and visitors should ensure body temperature detection and hand washing or sanitation when entering the police station.
>> Ensure the use of personal health care materials (masks, hand gloves, hand sanitizers, etc.) of every police member.
>> Weapons used in operational work, handcuffs, riot gear, hand mic, metal detector, archway must be properly disinfected.
>> Disinfect uniforms and shoes well and bathe with soap before entering the residence at the end of duty.
>> Dining room, canteen, recreation room, roll call, before and after returning from duty, social and physical distance should be maintained at the meeting place and use of health care materials should be ensured.
>> In case of Covid-19 symptoms or if the police members who were or have been in contact with the infected person should arrange Covid test as soon as possible.
>> Covid-19 positive members should be treated at central or divisional or district police hospitals and local hospitals as per the advice of doctors.
>> Immediate action to be taken by the unit in-charge in case of emergency transfer of the patient.
>> The unit in-charge and other officers should keep in touch with the affected member of his unit and his family round the clock and provide overall support.
>> Prisons should always be kept germ-free and if any person shows signs of Codid-19 while in custody, he should be taken to a doctor separately immediately.
>> Hygiene and social and physical distance must be ensured in the collection, storage and distribution of ration materials, medicines etc.
>> To prevent CODID-19 infection, follow the SOP prepared by the police headquarters and give awareness briefing on roll call.
>> The instructions issued earlier regarding code-19 should also be followed.
>> All members of each police unit must coordinate with the local health administration to ensure that the bovine dose of Covid Ticker is taken.
>> Kovid-19 infection is on the rise, so all police members and their families must adhere to proper hygiene rules.
So far, 108 police officers have died of the coronavirus, according to police headquarters; More than 26,000 members have been affected.
